How to play PokeImposter
- Look at the Pokémon. All of them share a group but one.
- Tap the impostor. On a keyboard, press 1–4.
- Read the reveal. You'll see the group the others share, why, and anything else that sets the impostor apart.
The Daily
5 rounds, the same for everyone, new every day at midnight your time. A wrong pick costs one of 3 lives; your score is the rounds you got right, and your time breaks ties. Each difficulty is its own Daily, built from Pokennection's levels: Normal (easy and normal groups, 4 Pokémon a round), Hard (normal and hard, 9 Pokémon) and Hard+ (hard and hard+, 16 Pokémon). Past days stay playable; only today's counts for your streak.
✦ Shiny Imposter
Also daily, 5 rounds and 3 lives, in Normal or Hard (subtler shinies). You see a Pokémon in its normal colours and four shiny versions: only one is its real shiny. The fakes are made the way real shinies are — the same kinds of colour changes, about as far from the normal colours as the real one — so you can't just pick the odd one out.
Unlimited
Runs of random puzzles at the size you pick, Normal (4 Pokémon), Hard (9) or Hard+ (16), each with the Daily's levels. You have 3 lives: a run is how many impostors you find before losing them, and your best run of each size goes to the Unlimited ranking. Every 5 right answers earn a roulette ticket.
Questions
- How do I play PokeImposter?
- Each Daily has 5 rounds of Pokémon: 4 on Normal, 6 on Hard, 8 on Hard+. All but one share a group — a type, a generation, an evolution method, being a Fossil or a Legendary, being based on a cat… Tap the one that doesn't belong; after each guess you see the group and why. A wrong pick costs one of three lives.
- Can a puzzle have two right answers?
- No. Every puzzle is checked against all of Pokennection's groups before it ships: if all but one of any other set share something that one doesn't, the puzzle is thrown away. Alternate forms count too, so Mega Charizard X being a Dragon can't make Charizard a trick answer.
- When is there a new puzzle?
- Every day at midnight, your time. Everyone gets the same 5 rounds, in Normal, Hard and Hard+. Past days stay playable from the arrows next to the date.
- What is Shiny Imposter?
- A second daily game: you see a Pokémon in its normal colours and four shiny versions. Only one is its real shiny — the others are fakes, recoloured to look just like real shinies. 5 rounds, 3 lives, Normal or Hard.
- Is there an unlimited mode?
- Yes: Unlimited is runs of random puzzles at the size you pick (Normal, Hard or Hard+) with 3 lives. See how many impostors you can find, and beat the ranking.
- Is it free? Do I need an account?
- It's free, with no account and no sign-up. Your results and streaks are saved in your browser.
